Build a real practice studio at home for less. The ProStep Dance Floor Kit pairs our best-value reversible marley with cushioned, interlocking subfloor tiles and seam tape, so you get the surface and the shock absorption in one box. What's in the kit ProStep Reversible marley, pre-cut rolls with a matte grip side for ballet, jazz and modern, and a faster glide side for hip-hop Cushioned subfloor tiles, interlocking 2' x 2' tiles in your choice of 3/8" or 3/4" thickness Mat tape for sealing seams and securing edges Pick your size and cushion Kit size Marley Subfloor tiles Tape 5.25' x 10' (52 sq ft) 1 roll @ 10' 10 1 roll 10.5' x 10' (105 sq ft) 2 rolls @ 10' 25 1 roll 15.75' x 10' (157 sq ft) 3 rolls @ 10' 35 1 roll 15.75' x 15' (236 sq ft) 3 rolls @ 15' 49 2 rolls 3/8" or 3/4"? Both cushion your landings over hard floors. Choose 3/4" for the most impact absorption, for concrete slabs, or for dancers putting in serious daily hours. The marley overhangs the tiles so the taped perimeter forms a low ramp, with no trip edge. Built for soft-shoe styles Ballet, jazz, modern, contemporary, lyrical and hip-hop. ProStep is a soft-shoe marley: for tap, flamenco or Irish hard shoe, choose the Rosco Adagio roll or Tap Dance Floor Tiles instead. Installation Tool-free: tiles snap together, marley unrolls on top Let rolls relax 24-48 hours for the flattest result Tape the perimeter and any seams with the included mat tape Over carpet, trim the marley to sit inside the tile edge and tape to the tiles Care Sweep or vacuum as needed; damp mop for scuffs and spills Avoid prolonged direct sunlight; clean spills promptly Backed by a 3-year warranty covering manufacturing defects. Inspect components before installation; faulty installation, improper use and normal wear are not covered.

Assembly

Your kit ships with snap-together sub-floor panels and a marley top. Build the base, roll the marley, tape it down. Done in an afternoon.

  1. Lay the sub-floor panels

Starting in a corner, snap the interlocking sub-floor panels together across your space like a puzzle. They sit directly on any hard floor.

Tip · Dry-fit the whole base before locking it tight.

  2. Trim the perimeter

Cut the outer connector tabs off the edge panels with a utility knife for a clean fit against the walls.

  3. Roll out the marley top

Unroll the marley over the panels, finished-side up, aligned to the longest wall. Give it a few hours to relax flat.

  4. Tape the seams and edges

Run marley seam tape down each join and perimeter tape around the edges so nothing shifts mid-routine.

Tip · 65-75°F is ideal while the marley relaxes.

Made to last

Care & maintenance

Three quick habits keep the marley top studio-fresh for years.

Dust mop

A microfiber dust mop before class catches grit that wears the finish.

Weekly, run a barely-damp mop with pH-neutral cleaner. Never vinegar or bleach.

Weekly

Check the seams

Every few months, re-press the seam and perimeter tape and re-tape any lifting edges.

Quarterly

Do

  • Dust mop before class.
  • Damp mop weekly with pH-neutral cleaner.
  • Re-tape lifting seams.

Don't

  • No vinegar, bleach, or wax.
  • No steam mops or scouring pads.
  • Don't drag heavy gear without sliders.
FAQ

Questions, answered

Setting up a home studio? Here's what dancers ask us most.

What's included in the kit?

A VersaStep Pro marley top (5.25' × 10'), cushioned snap-together sub-floor tiles, and seam tape: everything you need for a complete home practice floor.

How big a space does it cover?

The standard kit covers about 52 sq ft (5.25' × 10'), room for barre work, turns, and across-the-floor in a home studio.

Do I need tools?

No power tools. The sub-floor panels snap together by hand; you'll only need a utility knife to trim the edges.

Can I take it apart and move it?

Yes, it's fully portable. Lift the tape, roll the marley, and unsnap the panels to relocate or store it.

What floors can it go over?

Any hard, flat surface: wood, laminate, tile, or concrete. Avoid thick carpet.

Can I get a sample first?

Yes, order up to three free samples of the marley top before you buy.
