Installation

Lay it down once and you're done. No subfloor work, no adhesives, no studio downtime longer than a lunch break.

  1. Acclimate the rolls

Lay the rolls flat in the studio for 24 hours so the vinyl matches the room's temperature and humidity.

Tip · 65–75°F and under 60% RH is the sweet spot.

  2. Sweep and dry the sub-floor

Concrete or sprung wood, the only thing under our flooring should be the sub-floor itself — no dust, no debris.

  3. Roll it out

Start at the longest wall. Unfurl with the printed arrows pointing the same direction across the whole room.

Tip · Leave a ⅛" expansion gap at every wall — the vinyl breathes.

  4. Seam and tape

Butt seams tight. Run double-sided marley seam tape down the middle of each join and perimeter tape around the edges.

  5. Walk it in

Light foot-roll along seams, then dance class as normal. Most studios open the next morning.

Made to last

Care & maintenance

Three quick habits will keep your floor looking studio-fresh year after year.

Dust mop

A microfiber dust mop before the first class catches the rosin powder that wears down the finish.

Daily

Damp mop

Once a week, run a barely-damp mop with a pH-neutral cleaner — never vinegar, never bleach.

Weekly

Deep clean

Quarterly, lift the perimeter tape, mop edges, dry, and re-tape. The seams thank you.

Quarterly

Do

  • Dust mop daily, before class.
  • Damp mop weekly with a pH-neutral cleaner.
  • Air-dry between cleanings.

Don't

  • Never use vinegar, bleach or floor wax.
  • No steel wool, scouring pads, or steam mops.
  • Don't drag heavy furniture without sliders.
FAQ

Questions, answered

Studio owners ask us these every week. If yours isn't here, we're an email away.

How is the price calculated?

Price is per linear foot at a fixed 63" (5.25 ft) width. Pick a finish, choose your length in feet, and the page shows your exact total before you add to bag.

What's the minimum and maximum cut?

Minimum is 5 ft; maximum is 90 ft (one full roll). Need longer? Order multiple cuts — we can color-match across rolls from the same dye lot.

Can I get an exact length?

Yes — we cut to the foot. If you need half-foot precision, leave a note in your order and we'll honor it. We err generous on cuts (an extra inch or two), never short.

How long does a custom cut take to ship?

Custom cuts ship in 3–5 business days from our network of US warehouses, then 2–5 days transit depending on your zone. Need it faster? Email us — we run rush cuts for events and openings.

Can I return a custom-cut roll?

Custom-cut rolls are non-returnable, but we'll always replace defects or shipping damage at no charge. To avoid surprises, order a free sample pack first.

What's the warranty?

ProStep carries a 3-year limited warranty against manufacturing defects under normal use. If the material fails, we replace the affected section. Full terms on the warranty page.

Can I tap on ProStep?

No — ProStep is built for soft shoes only: ballet, pointe, modern, jazz, contemporary. For tap and hard-sole percussive work, choose Rosco Adagio or VersaStep Pro.
