Installation

Lay it down once and you're done. No subfloor work, no adhesives, no studio downtime longer than a lunch break.

  1. Acclimate the rolls

Lay the rolls flat in the studio for 24 hours so the vinyl matches the room's temperature and humidity.

Tip · 65-75°F and under 60% RH is the sweet spot.

  2. Sweep and dry the sub-floor

Concrete or sprung wood, the only thing under our flooring should be the sub-floor itself: no dust, no debris.

  3. Roll it out

Start at the longest wall. Unfurl with the printed arrows pointing the same direction across the whole room.

Tip · Leave a ⅛ inch expansion gap at every wall. The vinyl breathes.

  4. Seam and tape

Butt seams tight. Run double-sided marley seam tape down the middle of each join and perimeter tape around the edges.

  5. Walk it in

Light foot-roll along seams, then dance class as normal. Most studios open the next morning.

Made to last

Care & maintenance

Three quick habits will keep your floor looking studio-fresh for years of daily classes.

Dust mop

A microfiber dust mop before the first class catches the rosin powder that wears down the finish.

Daily

Damp mop

Once a week, run a barely-damp mop with a pH-neutral cleaner. Never vinegar, never bleach.

Weekly

Deep clean

Quarterly, lift the perimeter tape, mop edges, dry, and re-tape. The seams thank you.

Quarterly

Do

  • Dust mop daily, before class.
  • Damp mop weekly with a pH-neutral cleaner.
  • Air-dry between cleanings.

Don't

  • Never use vinegar, bleach or floor wax.
  • No steel wool, scouring pads, or steam mops.
  • Don't drag heavy furniture without sliders.
FAQ

Questions, answered

Studio owners ask us these every week. If yours isn't here, we're an email away.

How much flooring do I need?

Measure your studio (length × width in feet) to get square footage, then add about 5% for seams and trim cuts. Our sizing calculator on the homepage gives you a quick starting estimate.

Can I install it over a concrete sub-floor?

Yes. As long as the slab is clean, dry, and reasonably level, our flooring lays directly on top. No underlayment required for ballet, jazz, modern, or contemporary work. For tap, add a sprung sub-floor underneath.

Is it good for tap or pointe?

For pointe, ballet, jazz, and contemporary: yes. The controlled-slip matte surface is engineered for turns without rosin. For tap and hard-shoe styles, choose Rosco Adagio (sound-optimized) or VersaStep Pro and pair it with a sprung sub-floor for the right rebound. ProStep is for soft shoes only.

How long does shipping take?

In-stock rolls ship in 1-2 business days from our network of US warehouses; custom-cut rolls ship in 3-5 business days. Transit typically adds 2-5 days inside the continental US. Shipping is calculated by weight and destination at checkout.

Can I get a sample first?

Yes, order up to three free samples and we'll send 6×6-inch swatches so you can see them in your room's light before you commit.

What's the warranty?

Rosco Adagio and Adagio Tour carry a 5-year limited warranty; ProStep, Duette, Reversible, and Chroma Key carry a 3-year limited warranty, all covering manufacturing defects under normal studio use. Full terms on the warranty page.
